Shela Khan Monroe has had a passion for labor and employment law for more than 20 years. She is currently the Vice President of Labor and Employment Law for McLaren Health Care Corporation, headquartered in Grand Blanc Michigan.  She is the health care system’s Chief Negotiator for 37 collective bargaining agreements, manages labor and employment litigation as well as employee relations.

In her pursuit of her passion, she acquired a Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University and a Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University.  Once a practicing attorney, Shela started her career as one of several special counsels for the International Trade Commission, then moved on to represent Wayne County in contract negotiations and union employees with UFCW and Michigan Nurses Association, before joining the McLaren team.

Shela is married with two children, and many rescue pets.  In addition to her labor and employment law passions, Shela enjoys cooking, gardening and sunny days at the beach.  She works to support local food pantries to end childhood hunger and volunteers with special needs children.  Her enthusiasm for volunteering stems from her days as a social activist and leader in the labor movement. McLaren is currently a partner with Shela in continuing support for these important issues.
