Roy Houseman is the Legislative Director and Assistant to the President at the United Steelworkers (USW). The USW is the largest manufacturing union in North America, representing workers in a broad array of industries from steel, paper, rubber, glass, refining, healthcare and others.

Mr. Houseman has an oversight role regarding USW legislative priorities and has a policy focus on international trade and retirement security. On behalf of his union, Mr. Houseman has testified before multiple Congressional committees on trade and labor issues, and he has also represented the USW before the International Trade Commission and the Department of Commerce.

Prior to his work at the USW, Mr. Houseman was a local union president and City Council member in Missoula, Montana where he worked at a paper mill. After the mill’s unfortunate closure, Mr. Houseman completed a Masters of Public Administration degree from the University of Montana with the Trade Adjustment Assistance program, a federal job training program which has aided him in his current career.
