Matthew Ginsburg

Matt Ginsburg is General Counsel of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), a federation of 65 national and international unions representing 15 million working people.

Matt’s work on behalf of the AFL-CIO focuses on labor and employment law, administrative law, and constitutional issues, as well as matters related to legal compliance and the governance of the Federation.  He has regularly briefed and argued cases on behalf of unions and workers in the federal courts of appeals and presented the AFL-CIO’s views to the Supreme Court in amicus curiae briefs. 

Matt is a graduate of the New York University School of Law, where he was a Root-Tilden-Kern Scholar.  He clerked for Judge Diane P. Wood of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.  After his clerkship, Matt received a Skadden Fellowship to practice public interest law.
