Katchen Locke is the General Counsel of Service Employees International Union, Local 32BJ and has been with the union since 2001. Local 32BJ is the largest property service workers union in the U.S., representing 175,000 workers primarily along the East Coast. The union’s members include janitors, doorpersons, security officers, window cleaners, building engineers, railroad workers and school and food service workers in office, apartment, and government buildings, airports, shopping malls, public schools, colleges, stadiums, theaters, museums, and country clubs.  Ms. Locke is a 1999 graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, and prior to joining Local 32BJ was a fellow at the Vera Institute of Justice.  She leads the Union’s legal department, which provides legal support for the union’s organizing and legislative campaigns, labor and employment litigation, collective bargaining negotiations, and labor arbitrations.
